Mental Health Conferences, Programs and Resources
CHKD Classes and Events
CHKD provides community and professional workshops throughout the year addressing mental health and wellness.
For information about any of the following programs, please email Outreach@CHKD.org.
Youth Suicide: Risk and Prevention Conference
The Youth Suicide: Risk and Prevention conference, held annually in May, addresses the need to invest in our most vulnerable population, our children, to provide support, resources and services that are accessible to everyone. The two-day conference provides clinicians educators, parents and community based organizations with opportunities to learn from national and local mental health experts about the latest treatments, and information and support programs available to address the youth mental health crisis.
ADHD Symposium
Each year CHKD partners with Chesapeake Bay Academy (CBA) to provide this exceptional learning opportunity for educators, parents, and professionals across the Hampton Roads Community. This half day symposium offers a keynote address from an expert in the field and breakout sessions for clinicians, educators, and parents. Past keynote speakers have included: Jodi Sleeper Triplett and Dr. Ned Hallowell.
Youth Sports Mental Health & Wellness Alliance
In partnership with the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, the Alliance brings together youth sports stakeholders throughout the community to promote positive mental health and wellness in sports. The Alliance identifies mental health trends and concerns in youth sports, provides resources for coaches, parents, and athletes, and conducts and promotes youth sports mental health and wellness programs.
