It is Time for School!

I often commiserate with parents and educators that I work with, “The days are long, but the years are short.” As I blog on seasonally relevant topics, I find myself thinking, “Didn’t I just do an article on preparing for back to school?” Sure enough, when I look at our CHKD blog archives, I find an article from a year ago.

Time keeps marching on, but children continue to rely on parents, caregivers, and educators to help them plan and prepare for a successful school year. Throughout the year, parents, educators, and other engaged adults can offer comfort, celebrate successes, and challenge students to find their own best way as they face the daily demands of learning and growing. When we are intentional about offering children what they need to succeed physically, mentally, and emotionally in school, they can thrive.

As local students head back to school before Labor Day this year, I value the collective enthusiasm of community members, families, educators, and healthcare providers who are coming together. I am beginning to see flyers and social media posts marketing back-to-school events. It is amazing to see how many organizations get on board for these events and how many resources are available to help children and families succeed.
