Referral Guidelines
CHKD Surgical Group's pediatric plastic surgeons provide diagnostic, therapeutic, and surgical care for plastic surgery disorders in children from birth to age 21. Some of the conditions we treat include the following:
- Cleft lip and palate
- Craniofacial deformities
- Craniosynostosis
- Ear deformities
- Plagiocephaly and torticollis
- Tongue ties
- Benign & malignant skin lesions
- Cysts & soft tissue tumors
- Distraction ostegenisi
- Impacted canines
- Oral Pathology
- TMJ surgery
- Vascular anomalies and malformations
- Congenital hand deformities
- Hand injuries
- Breast deformities/gynecomastia
- Facial lacerations & fractures
- Hypertrophic/keloid scars
- Wound care
- Dental Implants
- Wisdom teeth
- Jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery)
- Sleep apnea surgery
- Trauma (dog bites, facial lacerations, etc.)

Your patient will be seen at the earliest appointment available, which is usually within one week.
Urgent appointments will be accommodated within 24 hours or less.
No pre-referral work-up is required for most conditions. Patients should bring any related imaging with pathology results, office notes, or other pertinent information to their first appointment. You can also fax this information ahead of time to (757) 668-7711. Please include the appointment date and time on the fax to ensure timely processing.
Your patient will be seen by the provider that is the best match for managing the current condition.
Pediatric plastic surgery clinics are held at CHKD in Norfolk, at Concert Drive in Virginia Beach, and at Oyster Point in Newport News.
