Bio

A graduate of the doctor of nursing practice and pediatric nurse practitioner program at Old Dominion University, Shannon Henry loves living and working in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.

After studying and working in human resources and management, Shannon decided to pursue a career in nursing. She says the variability in form and function, but consistency in purpose, has proven to be her favorite part of professional nursing because it allows her to cherish every moment and opportunity that she has been given.

Driven by her passion to care for children, she has worked in pediatrics throughout her nursing  career including areas such as the special care nursery, pediatric operating room and pediatric hospice.

As a CMG provider, Shannon says she is excited about increasing her presence within the community to help meet the needs of an underrepresented community.

In her spare time, Shannon enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter, traveling, and reading.

“I chose CHKD to help create the change that I want to see in healthcare.”
