Bio

A board-certified pediatric surgeon, Dr. Sani Z. Yamout obtained his medical degree from the American University of Beirut Faculty of Medicine, before pursuing general surgery training in the United States. It was during this time that he was exposed to the field of pediatric surgery, a specialty that captivated him with its unique challenges and profound rewards. He was soon "hooked" and decided to dedicate his career to the care of children.

Dr. Yamout completed his pediatric surgery training in Buffalo, NY, where he also met his wife, Stephanie, a pediatric hospitalist. The couple spent 12 years in the San Francisco Bay Area, where Dr. Yamout worked at Kaiser Permanente Oakland Medical Center, one of the largest pediatric surgical centers in Northern California. There, he refined his expertise and developed a deep passion for pediatric care.

When the opportunity arose to return to the East Coast and join the exceptional team at CHKD, Dr. Yamout eagerly embraced the chance to be closer to family and make a lasting impact on the community.

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Yamout enjoys spending time with his wife and two young boys, exploring the outdoors, and staying active through running. He is also an avid tinkerer and enjoys working on home improvement projects in his free time. Dr. Yamout is excited to bring his experience, dedication, and passion for pediatric surgery to the children and families at CHKD.
