Personal Statement

CHKD is a wonderful asset to the Hampton Roads community. To have access to such a unified, multidisciplinary team for pediatric care is a blessing for the patients and families in the area. I'm honored to be a part of the CHKD family.

Bio

A native of Chesapeake, Rachel McClanahan began her nursing career in the neonatal intensive care unit at CHKD where she worked for eight years while earning her master’s in nursing from Old Dominion University. Rachel has a passion for newborn care, childhood development, parent education, and breastfeeding support. Rachel has always loved working with children and is grateful to have the opportunity as a pediatric nurse practitioner to form lasting relationships with her patients and their families.

Rachel and her husband live in Moyock, NC., with their three children. Outside of work, Rachel enjoys working out and spending quality time with her family.
