Bio

Peter Stuhldreher, MD, medical director of CHKD's multidisciplinary spina bifida clinic, earned his medical degree from Emory University in 2008. Following medical school, he completed his residency in urology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center (formerly UH Case Medical Center).  He then completed his fellowship in Pediatric Urology at the Johns Hopkins Brady Urologic Institute in 2016.

Following completion of his medical training, Dr. Stuhldreher served as an active-duty Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy.  He was first stationed at Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA.  During this time, he deployed as part of Pacific Partnership 2018 on board the USNS Mercy.  While aboard, he served as the urologist for mission stops in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and Japan.  Dr. Stuhldreher was fortunate enough during this mission to cross the equator and complete a crossing the line ceremony, earning him the honor of being sworn in the ancient order of shellbacks by King Neptune.

He was then reassigned to Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, Portsmouth, VA, where he spent the rest of his Naval career.  He was fortunate enough to deploy on the Mercy’s sister ship, the USNS Comfort for Continuing Promise 2022 with mission stops in Guatemala, Honduras, Colombia, and the Dominican Republic.  He served as a both a pediatric and adult urologist in support of this mission.

Following the completion of his active-duty service commitment, Dr. Stuhldreher was delighted to join the urology team at CHKD August of 2024.  He is dedicated to continue the expert care that the CHKD urology department offers, and was excited to join a thriving department with outstanding clinicians.
