Personal Statement

I am fortunate that my colleagues at Pediatric Specialists not only share my love for children but also the desire to offer outstanding, evidence-based medical care. It's an honor and a joy to take care of children and families -- I still feel I have the best job in the world, second only to being a mom.

Bio

Dr. Rowland was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA.  She moved to Rochester, Minnesota for training in pediatrics at the Mayo Clinic and worked for a year in pediatric urgent care in the Twin Cities before moving to Virginia to escape the cold winters.  

At the Mayo Clinic, Dr. Rowland was taught that the needs of the patient come first, and she saw firsthand the importance of collaboration among specialties.  She feels grateful to be a part of CHKD, where there is access to outstanding pediatric specialties, and where she can continue to work in the tradition of putting families first.  Dr. Rowland feels it is rewarding to see kids grow up, and to be able to offer some comfort and guidance in deciphering the complexities of medical information that inundate us all.  She understands that families need a pediatrician they can trust, and she takes that responsibility very seriously.

Dr. Rowland is married to a physician and has three small children who teach her more about pediatrics than she could ever learn in books, and who bring her more happiness than she thought possible.  She also enjoys running, biking, reading, playing piano, and spending time outdoors.
