Personal Statement

I chose to come to CHKD to help fulfill the mission of providing comprehensive, interdisciplinary, patient-centered, family focused, and trauma-informed care to children throughout the area. The people who work here are what makes CHKD great because they have an honest desire to make the lives of children and families better.

Bio

Born and raised in the Milwaukee area of Wisconsin, Dr. King knew she wanted to be a physician since she was in the sixth grade. Although she initially leaned toward pediatrics, she discovered her passion for psychiatry during her medical school training.

A child and adolescent psychiatrist for more than 25 years, Dr. King joined CHKD because she wanted to be part of the health system’s commitment to providing mental health for youth. Dr. King enjoys taking care of patients with varying diagnoses and backgrounds. She has spent most of her career seeing patients who reside in underserved communities.

In her spare time, Dr. King enjoys reading and writing fiction, interior design, and taking long walks. She has three adult children and currently lives with two Cavapoo dogs.

Refer to Our Mental Health Program

CHKD is working hard to build a Mental Health Program with care access opportunities for all children in need. We currently have a high volume of requests and partner with mental health agencies outside of CHKD to ensure all children referred receive an appropriate treatment resource. Find inpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization referral information here.
