Bio

Born and raised in Madison Heights, VA, Clara Bartlett serves as a mental health therapist at CHKD. She possesses a deep passion for assisting children, adolescents, and their families overcome personal obstacles in an empathetic and supportive way.

After receiving her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from the College of William & Mary, Clara immediately pursued her Master’s Degree in clinical mental health counseling from Liberty University. She is currently certified as a resident in counseling by the Virginia Board of Counseling.

Clara has spent the last several years gaining clinical experience while partnering with individuals who face a variety of mental health concerns such as substance abuse, trauma, emotion/mood disorders, personality disorders, and adjustment difficulties. She has also provided care in a variety of modalities including individual, group, and family sessions, intensive in-home, parent support, and mental health skill building.

Clara utilizes an emotion-focused and strengths-based approach to counseling, while incorporating DBT concepts/techniques, Attachment Theory, and mindfulness exercises. She is a firm believer that mental health care should be evidence-based, individualized, comprehensive, and above all, compassionate.

Outside of work, Clara enjoys spending time with her husband and family, going to church, reading books, listening to vinyl on her record player, and watching her favorite TV shows. Clara attributes her educational/professional development to her relationship with God, her husband, and her family, all of whom have inspired her to pursue a career as a mental health therapist.
