Personal Statement
CHKD is a treasure to the Hampton Roads community. We are so fortunate to have the only freestanding children's hospital in the state of Virginia right in our backyard. Being a part of the CHKD community is an honor and a dream come true. I cannot think of a better way to give back to the community and the health system that raised me.
Bio
Dr. Wallen has come full circle and is thrilled to be joining Chesapeake Pediatrics, the practice she attended as a child that inspired her to become a pediatrician. Born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia, Dr. Wallen graduated with a bachelor’s in biology from Virginia Tech and completed medical school at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, Virginia. She returned home to Hampton Roads to complete her residency training and serve as a chief resident at CHKD.
Dr. Wallen has a passion for newborn care and development, as well as caring for medically complex children. She finds joy in forming lasting relationships with all patients and their families.
In her free time, Dr. Wallen enjoys spending time ,with her husband, her family, and her two dogs. She enjoys reading, kayaking, hiking, and yoga.
