Beverly Coleman, PNP

Education

College: University of Virginia

Graduate school: Virginia Commonwealth University

Personal Statement

It is great to be associated with a children's hospital like CHKD that provides access to numerous specialists and quality inpatient care. After living and working in places lacking easy access to quality pediatric care, I am appreciative of what CHKD offers our patients.

Bio

As a Coast Guard wife, Coleman has had opportunities to work in nursing and as a nurse practitioner in various settings.

After working for four years in inpatient pediatrics at University of Virginia Hospital, she moved to New Orleans and spent five years as a pediatric oncology nurse clinician.

She also taught nursing in Saipan in the Northern Mariana Islands, designing and implementing the first pediatric nursing and physical assessment courses for the local community college.

After two three-year tours in Valdez, Alaska, where she worked with four family-practice physicians, she and her family returned to Williamsburg in 2002.

Coleman is a certified infant massage instructor and enjoys working with military families.

Twice a year, she travels to Limon, Honduras, to volunteer at the Carolina Honduras Health Foundation Clinic.

She is the mother of three.
