Bio

Dr. Slusser grew up in Sacramento, California. From a young age, she knew that she wanted to specialize in pediatrics and majored in biochemistry and child development at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She went on to obtain her medical degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine.

After completing a pediatric internship at Naval Medical Center Portsmouth, she was selected to become a naval flight surgeon where she was stationed at Naval Air Station Oceana as the flight surgeon for Carrier Airwing ONE. After fulfilling her naval commitment, she completed her pediatric residency at East Carolina University followed by a pediatric critical care medicine fellowship at Duke University.

Throughout her training, Dr. Slusser has also been actively involved in several global health missions and takes pride in caring for children around the world. She is excited to be back in the Tidewater area again and part of the CHKD team.

When she is not at work, Dr. Slusser enjoys running, kayaking, traveling, cooking, and spending time with her two children.
