CHKD offers classes on many topics for kids, teens, parents and grandparents. Most are free but registration is required because space is limited.

ACL Injury Prevention Program - 6 week program
Research has shown that the incidence of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injuries in female athletes can be reduced by as much as 72-80% with proper training. This ACL injury prevention program for female athletes consist of strengthening techniques, core stabilization exercises, plyometrics (jump training), stretching, balance and coordination training. The class will also focus on proper jumping, landing and cutting techniques. Pre and post-training assessments will be performed on each participant. This class meets twice a week for 6 weeks. 24/7 Dads Program
This free four-week program (for dads only) will give you a better understanding of your role as a father and the roles played in raising a child by other family members. Learn about basic parenting skills, positive discipline, expectations and child development, communication techniques with any age child, and how to get involved with your child. Family origin, fathering and culture will also be discussed, as well as how addictions hinder father/child relationships. The class book and a light meal will be provided free of charge. Coaches from all levels of competition are invited to join the CHKD sports medicine team and special guest speaker Gregory Myer, PhD, co-director of Sports Medicine Research at Cincinnati Children’s to our sports medicine coach’s clinic. Coaches from private and public schools, as well as from club and recreation programs, who want to learn more about preventing injuries and getting athletes ready for competition are encouraged to register. Additional session topics will include information on guidelines for conditioning and enhanced performance, dynamic stretching and warm-up/cool downs, hydration and heat illness, nutrition, dangers of supplements and energy drinks, concussions and interactive break out sessions.
