Understanding Childhood Vaccine Recommendations
Parents likely have many questions regarding the Executive Order dated August 10, 2026, related to childhood vaccines. The Executive Order outlines the Administration’s recommendations regarding childhood vaccines and the role that states, the scientific and medical community, and parents should play in considering revisions to current, evidence-based best practices in administering childhood vaccines.
It is important to understand that the Executive Order does not change law, regulation, or evidence-based guidance that CHKD currently follows, including the number, schedule, timing, or composition of vaccines administered by CHKD pediatricians. We will continue to closely monitor all vaccine-related science as well as federal and state responses to the Executive Order and will promptly communicate with you should any changes to current practice be needed. But for now, rest assured that nothing about your child’s current vaccine schedule at CHKD has changed.

As always, your child’s pediatrician is the best source of guidance to keep your child safe from lethal or life-altering diseases like measles, hepatitis B, bacterial meningitis, polio, and whooping cough (pertussis). Your CHKD pediatrician will continue to provide the following vaccines according to the currently prescribed schedule, which was developed by the American Academy of Pediatrics.
