Pediatrics 2010 is designed to:

  • Update your knowledge and skills by reviewing state-of-the-art diagnosis and treatment in general and subspecialty pediatrics.
  • Enhance your ability to diagnose and manage complex or difficult cases.
  • Provide a forum for informal learning in plenary and small group settings through interactions with experts and colleagues.

Through participation in this conference, participants will be able to:

  • Review the scope of disordered eating in teens and determine its nutritional management, select and discuss the best nutritional plan for young athletes.
  • Outline the use of contraception among adolescents.
  • Identify the most common orthopedic and adolescent conditions which can be managed in the primary care office setting, including sexually transmitted diseases.
  • Review the new guidelines for pre-participation physical examinations.
  • Describe the clinical approach to the male versus the female athlete.
  • Determine the most practical approach to dysfunctional uterine bleeding.
  • Review and demonstrate the proper examination of the knee joint.
  • Discuss the diagnostic approach and management of adolescents with acne, hypertension, syncope, polycystic ovary syndrome, depression, pancreatitis, sickle cell disease, scoliosis, chest pain, headaches, and exercise-induced asthma versus vocal cord dysfunction.
  • Discuss the role of the general pediatrician as a team physician.
  • Recall the legal considerations as well as the clinical management of young athletes with concussion.
  • Discuss the role of calcium and vitamin D supplementation in bone health for teens.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for pediatric physicians, primary care physicians, subspecialty physicians, nurse practitioners, residents, fellows and other health care professionals.
