Visit your nearest Borders and Waldenbooks during August and purchase a book to support CHKD’s many programs that put books in the hands of hospitalized children. Simply purchase a book at the store and Borders will take care of delivering your gift to CHKD. Borders will also donate 5 percent of book sales to the hospital. During the sweltering days of August, you can cool down and help the kids at CHKD by stopping by the Norfolk or participating Virginia Beach franchise of Rita’s Water Ice, an old-fashioned-feeling ice cream parlor that specializes in Italian ice frozen custard. During August, Rita’s franchises at 5256 Providence Road in Virginia Beach and on 21^st Street in Norfolk will sell $1 balloons, with all proceeds going to CHKD. In addition, on each parlor will donate 15 percent of sales to CHKD on specific dates, August 7^th and 21^st at the Norfolk store and on August 14^th and 28^th at the Virginia Beach parlor.
